Asbestos Awareness

Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral once widely used in construction and manufacturing due to its durability and heat resistance. However, it is now recognised as a serious health hazard.

This UKATA accredited Asbestos Awareness course will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to identify, asbestos-containing materials safely, helping to prevent dangerous exposure, protect human health, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Upon completion of this online asbestos training course, you will be issued with a UKATA generated certificate valid for a period of 12 months from date of issue.

Note:

This course is intended to make the candidates aware of the dangers associated with exposure to airborne asbestos fibres through unknowingly coming into contact with asbestos materials.

It does NOT train you to work with asbestos containing materials (ACM’s)

COSHH Awareness

This course will provide you with a greater understanding of the basics of COSHH and its importance in maintaining a safe workplace.  You will learn to recognise different types of hazardous substances that you may encounter in various work environments.  The program delves into the principles of risk assessment and the hierarchy of control measures, providing the tools needed to effectively manage and mitigate risks associated with hazardous substances. Additionally, the course prepares participants to understand and implement the necessary actions to be taken in an emergency, ensuring a prompt and appropriate response to incidents involving hazardous materials.

Note:

Whilst this course will provide awareness training in relation to hazardous substances, additional support may be required dependent on the nature of your organisation, the task performed and the environment in which you operate.

COSHH does not cover asbestos, lead or radiation as these are regulated separately

Management of Respirable Crystalline Silica and Other Construction Dusts

Construction activities frequently generate dust that can pose serious health risks if not properly controlled. Materials such as concrete, brick, stone, mortar, wood, and plaster can release harmful airborne dust when cut, drilled, ground, or disturbed.

This course provides awareness of respirable crystalline silica (RCS) and other construction dust hazards, explaining how exposure occurs, the health effects associated with dust inhalation, and the key control measures required to reduce risk.

The training supports the requirements of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations and highlights individual and organisational responsibilities for managing dust safely in the workplace.

Duty to Manage Asbestos

The Duty to Manage Asbestos is a legal requirement under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR 2012). It applies to those responsible for the maintenance and repair of non-domestic premises and, in practice, is highly relevant to anyone commissioning, planning or overseeing work in buildings.

This course provides a structured and practical understanding of asbestos management responsibilities, risk assessment, survey interpretation, remediation options, and the consequences of non-compliance.

It is designed to bridge the gap between simply having asbestos information and using that information to manage asbestos effectively.
